Apple Announces All-New 10% Thinner MacBook Air with Touch ID, Retina Display

Today Apple finally announced the long-awaited MacBook Air refresh; and the company didn’t disappoint.

The new MacBook Air features a similar design to the outgoing model, which was a fan-favorite. However, many new upgrades bring the MacBook Air into the current era.

Its 13.3″ Retina display features 50% narrower bezels with quadruple the amount of pixels and 4x higher resolution than before, producing 48% more colors.

It features a front-facing FaceTime HD Camera with macOS Mojave’s group FaceTime capabilities, which is improved with the addition of a new three microphone array.

Touch ID is now onboard with Apple’s robust T2 security enclave featuring an SSD controller and an AES 256 encryption engine.

A third-generation Butterfly keyboard is now 4x as stable the outgoing model. Its Force Touch trackpad features a 20% larger surface area.

Audio performance has been improved with 25% louder speakers that are capable of 2x more bass and wide stereo sound.

Other features include two Thunderbolt 3 USB-C ports, capable of outputting video to an external 5K Display, an 8th-gen dual core Intel i5 CPU, up to 16GB Memory. It’s expandable to a 1.5TB SSD which is 60% faster than the outgoing model.
