Apple — the world’s most valuable company — obviously owes a huge part of its success to its cofounder and former CEO Steve Jobs.

Jobs’ legacy is hard to argue with — he’s well known for his entrepreneurship, innovation, and sheer commitment to pushing the boundaries in design. And he’s largely responsible for turning Apple around from the brink of bankruptcy.

Seeing Cupertino now, as one of tech’s biggest and most influential companies, it’s easy to see his impact resounding to this day.

Along the way, Jobs managed to share quite a few tidbits of wisdom — from innovation and design advice to inspiring people to live every day purposefully, his quotes are as thought-provoking as they are inspirational. Here is a list of some of our favorites.

  1. “I’m as proud of many of the things we haven’t done as the things we have done. Innovation is saying no to a thousand things.”

  3. “Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower.”
  4. “It’s really hard to design products by focus groups. A lot of times, people don’t know what they want until you show it to them.”
  5. “My favorite things in life don’t cost any money. It’s really clear that the most precious resource we all have is time.”
  6. “Sometimes when you innovate, you make mistakes. It is best to admit them quickly, and get on with improving your other innovations.”
  7. “The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do.”
  8. “Technology is nothing. What’s important is that you have a faith in people, that they’re basically good and smart, and if you give them tools, they’ll do wonderful things with them.”
  9. “Being the richest man in the cemetery doesn’t matter to me … Going to bed at night saying we’ve done something wonderful … that’s what matters to me.”
  10. “For the past 33 years, I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: ‘If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?’ And whenever the answer has been ‘No’ for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something.”
