A few weeks back, we reported that several 13-inch MacBook Pro users were experiencing issues, particularly in that their systems would freeze, unexpectedly and without warning, rendering them inaccessible — and, in extreme cases, requiring a hard reboot to get back up and running.

As we mentioned in our previous report, however, these issues appeared to stem and result from users upgrading their MacBook Pros to the latest version of OS X 10.11.4 ‘El Capitan’. Also, we came to learn that the issue wasn’t just affecting 13-inch MacBook Pros, but also, several 15-inch MacBook Pros, as well.

Well, just this morning, it seems that Apple has officially (finally!) acknowledged these system freezing issues via a support document posted to its official website. What’s more, the Silicon Valley Mac-maker provides plagued users with not just one, but a few viable avenues by which to rectify the problem.

Solutions

For starters, affected MacBook Pro users should ensure that their machines have been updated to the latest firmware currently available to download, which is OS X ’El Capitan’ 10.11.5.

Additionally, they should ensure that their flash player plug-in has been updated to the most recent version — if, of course, it’s been installed on their machine in the first place.

Even despite these relatively simple action steps as outlined within Apple’s support document, however, several users have persisted to experience these same issues with their MacBook Pro, according to posts on MacRumors forums.

Additionally, several users report experiencing the issue without even having a flash plug-in installed on their MacBook in the first place!

We’re not entirely sure about the origins of the bug, or what could be causing it even despite Apple’s recommendations; however it’s apparent from most user complaints that updating to OS X 10.11.4 ‘El Capitan’ was how the whole fiasco become a reality.

Here’s to hoping that Apple ultimately provides some sort of additional info — or, better yet, a 100% foolproof system update — within the days to come.
