When you’re at the home screen on your iPhone or iPad, just another swipe to the right will reveal iOS 9’s new quick search page — which includes a shortcut for Apple’s Spotlight search, a selection of contacts, most frequently used apps, nearby place searchable shortcuts, and recent news (if and when available).
Perhaps the coolest feature of all, though, when you’re on the new search page, you can now tap on one of your frequent contact’s photos, which will reveal several additional options — most notably among them, you can either call or message that contact with a single tap of the phone or message icon. Additionally, you can search for other contacts via Spotlight, at which point an additional tap on their image will reveal the same options.
