Stop Searching for Updates on the App Store
We all want to have the latest updates for our favorite apps, but having your iPhone constantly search for and download updates will undoubtedly affect your data plan — and your battery life.
To avoid this issue, you can change your iPhone settings so that you have to search for any updates manually. You can also avoid downloading apps entirely using cellular. Here’s how:
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Scroll down and select App Store.
- Disable Cellular Data.
- Scroll down again and, under Cellular Data, disable Automatic Downloads.
- Choose App Downloads.
- Select Always Allow, Ask If Over 200 MB, or Always Ask, depending on if you want to be able to download apps using cellular data.
