FAQ | Should I Buy Apple AirPods Max Now or Wait for the AirPods Max 2?

Many people have asked if they should buy the AirPods Max now or wait for the AirPods Max 2 since I leaked that Apple has started working on them. There isn’t a clear answer to this question since it really depends on each person, but I’m going to give you my opinion and try to help you decide what’s best for you. But first, let me summarize what I know about the AirPods Max 2. As far as I’m concerned, Apple’s current plans include:

1. New touch controls.
2. Improved ANC and battery life.
3. New Apple wireless protocol instead of Bluetooth to improve sound quality.

The AirPods Max 2 should be ready to ship at some point in H1 2023, although there is a chance the release gets delayed due to supply chain issues or Apple deliberately holding them. Unfortunately, it’s not possible to know right now, but I’ll be able to give you more details closer to the release.

Should I Wait?

It depends. It all comes to a question you need to ask yourself. Do you need the AirPods Max, or do you want them? In my particular case, it’s the latter, so I will wait until the new ones are released.

If you need the AirPods Max, I suggest you buy them. They are fantastic headphones, by far the best on the market at that price point. The new version won’t be released until early 2023 at best, and if you need a pair of headphones now, there isn’t much you can do about it other than buy the current model. Get them here.

If you want the AirPods Max, I suggest you wait. I know it’s more than a year, but the wait will be worth it. Thanks to that new protocol, the new version will sound significantly better, and the touch controls will be way better than the current Apple Watch-like Digital Crown, which I personally don’t like.
