Apple Pay is one of your iPhone’s most useful features. With it, you can do almost everything you can with an actual debit or credit card.

For instance, you can buy stuff online with your iPhone or Apple Watch and automatically pay for any services you’ve subscribed to with your iPhone.

But can Apple Pay actually do everything a physical card can? That is, can you withdraw money from an ATM, just like you would with an actual card? Keep reading to find out.

Can You Withdraw Money From an ATM With Apple Pay?

The short answer is yes. You can actually use Apple Pay on your iPhone to withdraw money from an ATM — at least in the US. However, you still need to meet a couple of requirements.

First, you’ll obviously need to have a credit card added to your Apple Wallet app. You’ve probably already done this, but if you haven’t, you can do the following to add your card.

  1. Open the Wallet app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap the plus icon in the top right corner of your screen.
  3. Select Debit or Credit Card.
  4. Tap on Continue.
  5. Use your iPhone’s camera to scan the debit card, or tap on Enter Card Details Manually.
  6. Tap on Next in the top right corner of your screen.
  7. Add the 3-digit Security code of your card. You usually find it on the back, but it might vary depending on your card. When you’re done, tap Next.
  8. Read and agree to the Terms and Conditions.
  9. You might need to enter a verification code to finish the process.

And that’s it. It might take a while, but your debit card should typically be available on Wallet within a few minutes.

How to Withdraw Money From an ATM With Apple Pay

Next is the ATM. You’ll need a machine that actually supports Apple Pay. Unfortunately, there isn’t a direct way to know which ATMs support Apple Pay, although Bank of America, Chase, and Wells Fargo support it on most of their ATMs, and Citibank and US Bank have also been rolling it out.

However, you’ll ultimately need to go to the machine and look for the cardless, contactless, or Apple Pay logo. If you see it, then you’re good to go.

Once you’ve met all the requirements, follow these steps to get some cash.

  1. Press the Side button two times on your iPhone.
  2. Select the debit card you want to use.
  3. Unlock Apple Pay by using Face ID or Touch ID.
  4. Hold your iPhone near the reader of the ATM.
  5. Enter your code and follow the same steps you would to withdraw money.

And that’s it! Now, you can go and spend your hard-earned cash on anything you want.

Use Apple Pay for Anything

As you can see, Apple Pay can really do anything your credit or debit cards can and then some. The best part is that Apple has made this feature extremely secure, so you shouldn’t have any problems with it, whether you’re paying for your stuff or withdrawing money.
