Waze is a handy navigation app that uses crowd-sourced reports to give you accurate, moment-by-moment traffic updates.

Now the app’s creators are taking live traffic reports another step further, thanks to a new partnership with event organizers.

Waze’s Global Event Partner Program will allow event organizers to use a newly implemented tool to warn commuters of any scheduled closures due to big events such as sports games or marathons, according to Engadget.

The Waze Closure tool will even allow event organizers to add specific details about traffic conditions, such as turn restrictions, lane reversals, and parking lot locations. A live Waze map can also be embedded on an event’s website to provide up-to-date traffic flow information to event-goers, TechCrunch reported.

The company said they hope this will allow users to navigate events more easily. On the other side of the spectrum, happier event-goers — theoretically — will purchase more merchandise and concession from venues, Engadget reported.

And even if you aren’t on your way to a sports game or a marathon, the new feature could potentially let you know which roads and intersections to avoid.

The traffic app currently have over 20 partners lined up to participate in the new program, including sports teams such as the Atlanta Falcons, Washington Redskins, and the Detroit Lions.

Waze said that the program is free to any all events, regardless of size, but they’ll be accepting applicants based on the local Waze network’s quality and the organizer’s ability to drive people to use the app.

The Global Event Partner Program is one of many new services that the company is offering, including Waze Connected Citizens, which partners commuters with city officials, and Waze Transport SDK, which allows Waze integration for ride-share and other transport companies, TechCrunch reported.

Waze — which has 65 million monthly users — is currently available for free on both the iOS and Android app stores.
