How to Claim Your Piece of the $250M Siri AI Settlement Now

Earlier this year, Apple agreed to pay out $250 million to settle a class action lawsuit filed in the United States over the delayed launch of Siri AI.
The complaint accused Apple of promoting its products in a way that “…overstated AI capabilities, leading consumers to believe they were purchasing a device with features that did not exist or were materially misrepresented.”
Now, if you purchased an eligible iPhone between June 10, 2024 and March 29, 2025, you can claim your share of the financial spoils, as Mactrast reports the settlement website is now live.
How Much Can I Get?
Apple has agreed to pay an estimated $25 per eligible iPhone to eligible customers. A claim must be submitted via the settlement website between today, September 21, and December 21, 2026. The exact amount of the payment may end up being higher or lower than $25, depending on the number of valid claims that are submitted, and other factors. The maximum amount of the payment is set at $95.
As is normal in lawsuit settlement agreements like this, Apple denies any wrongdoing in connection with any allegations made in the lawsuit, and agreed to the settlement to avoid a trial.
Refresh My Memory, Why Was Apple Sued?
During its June 2024 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), Apple showed a new suite of Apple Intelligence features in iOS 18, including some promising new Siri capabilities.
The demo included several new Siri features, including on-screen awareness, understanding a user’s personal context, and deeper per-app controls. One example demonstrated how an iPhone user could ask Siri about their mother’s flight and lunch reservation plans, and would receive a reply based on information from the Mail and Messages apps.
The new features were featured heavily in later product presentations, on the Apple website, and even in a television commercial that starred Game of Thrones and The Last of Us actor Bella Ramsey.
Unfortunately, the promised features were not ready for prime time. While Apple never claimed the new Siri would arrive during the September 2024 release of iOS 18.0, it did promise the entire suite of AI features — including Siri — were coming in some future iOS 18 point release.
Internal sources suggested these were slated for iOS 18.4, expected in early 2025, but in March of that year, a spokesperson announced it was “going to take us longer than we thought to deliver on these features,” and that the launch of a more personal Siri would be delayed into “the coming year.” Nobody could quite agree on what that meant, except to say they weren’t coming in iOS 18. This resulted in the class action lawsuit Apple is now settling.
The class action lawsuit was filed by 69 individuals in 38 states who claimed they either would not have purchased a new iPhone 16 model, or at the very least wouldn’t have paid as much for it had they known about the Siri-related delays.
Apple at first pushed back hard against the filing by saying, in part, that none of the plaintiffs had specified which ad or statement had influenced their decision. Plus, Apple noted that 20 of the 22 promised Apple Intelligence features had been rolled out, with only Siri with personal context and App Intents having been delayed.
Finally, Apple agreed to settle the lawsuit, saying it did so “to stay focused” and to continue delivering “the most innovative products and services to our users.”
Apple finally unveiled Siri AI at June’s WWDC 2026 event. The feature is available on iPhone 15 Pro models and newer running iOS 27. While iOS 27 exited beta testing and was released to the public earlier this month, Siri AI is still designated as a “beta feature.”
