If you’re an Apple Card holder who has yet to share the love with your partner or spouse, Apple has a new offer that might just tempt you to do so.
While the company frequently offers limited-time sign-up bonuses for new cardholders, this latest one hopes to encourage existing cardholders to expand the Apple Card benefits to a spouse, partner, or other close family member.
From now until May 18, Apple Card holders who add a Co-Owner can receive $100 of Bonus Daily Cash — provided the co-owner spends $100 in their first 30 days.
Note that this spend has to be made specifically by the new co-owner. Your own Apple Card and those held by other Co-Owners or participating family members don’t count toward the $100 threshold.
Further, while you can add “a partner, spouse, or someone else you trust” as a Co-Owner, that person must still be a member of your Family Sharing group as that’s how Apple Card Family works. However they don’t need to be a “family” member, so BFFs and close roommates could easily join in — just remember that whoever you do add as a Co-Owner has the same level of access and control over the Apple Card account.
This latest offer echoes a similar one in 2023, but in that one Apple offered up to $100 in Bonus Daily Cash for adding any family member. It also required you to add more than one to get the full $100 bonus, as the deal was $25 for each family member, up to a maximum of four. As with this month’s promo, family members also had to spend the equivalent on their own cards — $25 each — within the first 30 days to qualify the primary Apple Card holder for the cash back.
While co-owners share responsibility for an Apple Card account, build credit equally with the primary owner, and must pass the same application process, participants can be as young as 13. They also don’t have any payment responsibilities, although those over 18 can use their Apple Card to build their own credit history.
Meanwhile, owners and co-owners can set spending limits for a participant or lock their cards to pause spending at any time, with everything managed through the Wallet app.
Note that the Bonus Cash back in both cases is above and beyond the standard Daily Cash rewards, which typically range from 1% to 3%, depending on how and where you shop. Transactions with the physical titanium Apple Card will earn you 1%, while all Apple Pay transactions earn 2%. Purchases at Apple earn 3%, along with those at participating partners such as Ace Hardware, Booking.com, Chargepoint, Duane Reade, Exxon Mobil, Hertz, Nike, Uber, Uber Eats, and Walgreens. Apple also frequently offers promotions with higher Daily Cash rates for specific merchants or categories of spending.
As the name implies, these Daily Cash rewards are automatically deposited into your Apple Cash account or Apple Card Savings Account (if you have one) each day. This means you don’t have to wait for your next statement to receive your cashback; there are no minimum thresholds either.
