Although the release of the iPhone SE and 9.7-inch iPad Pro is just around the corner, iPhone 7 rumors have been dominating the internet as of late. Last week,  the “serial tech leaker”, Steve Hemmerstoffer leaked photos that appear to show a clear plastic case for the upcoming iPhone 7.

The images, if accurate, seem to confirm the oft-repeated rumor that the iPhone 7 will forego the traditional 3.5-mm headphone jack, opting instead for an extra set of speakers on the bottom of the chassis. Rumor has it that Apple will be ditching the headphone jack in an effort to make the body of the iPhone 7 1mm thinner – users will likely be forced to rely on Bluetooth or Lightning-equipped headphones, or use an adapter that would plug into the Lightning port.

Just last night, more “leaked” images surfaced on the web, this time purportedly showcasing the rear chassis of the new phone, with moved antenna lines and no camera bump.

The images, which surfaced on French site NoWhereElse, show schematics for the rear design of the iPhone 7, and were allegedly obtained from Apple supplier Catcher Technology. Several design elements are immediately noticeable when viewing the renders – for one, the “antenna lines”, which users have long claimed ruin the aesthetic of the phone, have been moved for a more streamlined, minimalist look. The antenna lines in the render are re-positioned, running alongside the curve on the top and bottom edges of the phone.

Secondly, the cutout for the camera seems to be substantially larger than the cutout in the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, indicating that an upgraded camera will be present on the device (note that the renders allegedly show an iPhone 7, not an “iPhone 7 Pro”, which is rumored to include a dual-lens system). The renders do nothing to show, however, whether or not the new phone will get rid of the “camera bump” that users have complained about in several past iPhone models.

The renders do nothing to confirm or deny the lack of a headphone jack on the new device, but the site does mention that the source of the leak claims that the headphone jack is indeed missing, and the device is “slightly thinner” than that of the iPhone 6s. The source did not confirm, however, whether or not the headphone jack has been replaced by an extra “stereo” speaker, as per previous reports.

The iPhone 7 is expected to be announced in September of this year. There has been plenty of speculation that Apple may release three different versions of the iPhone 7 this year – the 4.7-inch iPhone 7 and the 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus, as well as a new 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Pro, which will reportedly feature a dual-lens camera as well as several other upgrades.
