With Apple’s 10th iteration of mobile goodness just a few short months away from being unveiled, both stakes and expectations are high for the Cupertino-company — especially as it seeks to further differentiate iOS and implement a slew of new features that will keep its pride-and-joy handset at the top of the pack.

At last year’s WWDC, Apple took the wraps off of iOS 9 — which brought to the table a plethora of innovative features, in its own right, including a new searchable Settings menu, enhanced Siri capabilities and integration, new battery saving options, and more. And it’s expected that this year, at WWDC in June, Apple will similarly be unveiling a beta version of iOS 10 ahead of a fall 2016 launch.

All things considered, though, the expectations for iOS 10 are understandably higher than ever before and we believe that the company has quite a treat in store for us this year. What exactly could iOS 10 bring to the table? Well, that remains to be seen, so we’ve compiled a wish list of features we’d absolutely love to see the company introduce.

1. A ‘Clear All Notifications’ Option

If you have notifications coming in for Messages, Facebook, Instagram, AND Mail — as well as several other apps, as many of us do, then you’ll likely already know that those notifications tend to pile up in the notifications menu pretty quickly.

And if you’re like myself, then you’ll also know that going through, day by day by day, and manually deleting them from the notifications menu can be somewhat of a pain in the rear-end. So we’re really hoping Apple will bring to the table an option to just click delete once, and, poof, they’re gone.

That would definitely save us some valuable seconds when we need them most, right?

2. More Wallpapers, Please!

Personally, I like to change my wallpaper fairly often, because, like most people, I just get bored of the same old song and dance relatively quickly. I thoroughly enjoy the frequent change, also, because I think it livens things up a bit, you know?

But seriously, if you’re not using an image from your personal photos gallery, the options that Apple has given us are, well, to say the least, rather slim. I mean, with just seven, solid color live wallpapers, and 24 basic abstract options, Apple’s selection of wallpapers in iOS 9 is quite limited, indeed. So we’re definitely hoping they give us a few more, and need we say, exciting, alternatives to choose from.

3. Hide or Delete Apple’s Pre-installed Apps

Although a workaround to make this dream a reality was initially discovered in iOS 9.2, it ultimately turned out to be somewhat hit-and-miss. So, that said, we’re really, really hoping that Apple will finally allow us to either hide and/or delete any of the company’s nearly 30 pre-installed iPhone apps.

They take up space on our home screens as well as space in our limited reserves of storage, and quite frankly, some people just prefer to use alternative, 3rd party apps. So we’re really hoping that Apple will give us the option to do-away with the ‘bloatware’, if we so insist.

4. A Re-designed Messages App

Let’s be honest here: iMessages are a great way to stay in touch with friends and family who also use an iPhone or iPad. They’re basic, easy to compose, and the length is pretty much unlimited — which is also very nice. However, for its part, Apple has not vastly updated or reconfigured the iMessage platform, or even Messages in general, in several years.

So it would be really nice to see a makeover of the Messages app, or, at the least, perhaps a few additional customization options — like being able to utilize different colored backgrounds, or bubble colors, or even font colors and styles, for instance.

5. More Advanced 3D Touch Functionality

For what it’s worth, Apple’s 3D Touch feature — which initially debuted on the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus — is an extremely intuitive way to interact with our iPhones. As a matter of fact, it’s so intuitive that several manufacturers are already copying Apple by bringing similar options to their handsets — which is yet another indication that Apple continues to pave the way towards innovation.

Even still, though, for what 3D Touch CAN do, there are yet many limitations to the platform, and thus, many ways in which Apple can vastly expand the functionality so we can interact with our iPhones on an ever deeper level than ever before.

For instance, the Control Center is a prime place we’d like to see 3D Touch play an even greater role in managing our device settings. For example, if you were to press and hold the Bluetooth or Wi-Fi button, this action could initiate a pop-up sub-menu, allowing for the complete customization and control of those features.
