In a recent screenshot, taken using one of Apple’s iPad Air 2’s and posted to the company’s official website, the company seems to be foretelling that the feature might be receiving a special dose of Control Panel integration — in the form of its own toggle in a forthcoming release of iOS.

First discovered by a Reddit user on Wednesday, Apple’s Canadian website displays a screenshot of the home screen with an active control panel on an iPad Air 2, which clearly shows the Night Shift icon positioned alongside the device’s brightness control.

As you can see from the screenshot, the toggle also appears to trigger a sub-menu, which asks users whether or not they want to “Turn on for Now,” or “Turn On Until Tomorrow” — fueling speculation that the new feature will boast both an automated and time-based mode of functionality.

Strangely enough, a similar screenshot posted to Apple’s U.S. website displays the same iPad and iPhone, although the latter’s image does not show the control panel active, as is the case on apple.ca

For what it’s worth, though, the current, beta release of iOS 9.3 doesn’t include the Night Shift toggle in its control panel, suggesting that perhaps Apple is saving the debut for the official iOS 9.3 release while it works out some last minute kinks or bits-and-pieces relevant to the new feature.

First discovered early last week in iOS 9.3’s beta release, Night Shift is a new feature that allows users to control (adjust) the display color temperature of their iOS device — enabling the time-based or automatic customization of the standard “cool blue” display colors, thereby reducing the adverse effects of eye strain and other physiological side-effects at night time.

In its current iteration, Night Shift can be accessed by manually navigating to the Settings app > Display and Brightness settings; however the latest screenshot suggests that Apple may be further integrating the feature into iOS’ control panel in the future.

It’s also unclear, at this time, whether or not Apple plans to incorporate Night Shift functionality in the control centers of ALL iOS devices. As it stands, the feature is exclusive only to the iPad control center; as are brightness control meters exclusive to iPad models, and not the iPhone or iPod Touch.

We have to admit, we’re hoping this actually comes to playing the official iOS 9.3 release. Night Shift appears to be a rather helpful feature, and having quick access to control it would be greatly appreciated by many users.
