A Mac admirer who sent a concerned letter to Apple wondering whether the company was “pulling away” from developing Macs has apparently been rewarded with an email from Tim Cook, assuring him otherwise.

“I love the Mac and we are very committed to it. Stay tuned,” the email reads. Apple has yet to confirm whether the email is authentic, though AppleInsider has concluded that the correspondence likely came from the company, though perhaps not from El Capitan himself.

In any case, the tireless Apple community and rumor mill have zeroed in on the “stay tuned,” wondering what sort of Mac news awaits and whether there are any new Macs on the horizon.

For starters, macOS Sierra is slated to have its release on September 30. Bloomberg has previously reported that there are significant Mac upgrades in the works, including a standalone 5K monitor, an iMac with new graphics chips, a USB-C equipped MacBook Air, all of which may begin to be launched as early as October of this year.

Beyond this, rumors abound that Apple is developing a new MacBook Pro with an OLED display above the keyboard. It is likely to come with a Thunderbolt 3, USB 3.1 Generation 2, and an AMD “Polaris” GPU. Whether or not the email is authentic, it seems safe to say that Tim Cook is indeed committed to the Mac line.
