According to a report released on Friday, Apple is currently working to incorporate at least three new color options in the company’s long-rumored, though yet-to-be-announced ‘iPhone 5se’ — including one that will supposedly be along the lines of a deeper hot pink.

The report, brought to us courtesy of the popular Japanese Blog Macotokara, alleges that Apple is trying to further differentiate its forthcoming, 4-inch iPhone from the device’s larger siblings — the iPhone 6/6s — by introducing new color hues alongside the more traditional Gold, Silver, and Space Gray hues. The report cites “a number” of unnamed, third-party accessory manufacturers who showcased their products at the recent Tokyo International Trade & Gift Expo.

The source’s description of the new pink hue was somewhat unclear, insofar as where the chassis color would fall out on the pink spectrum of. However, they were able to confidently assure Macotokara that it would be more along the lines of a deeper, richer hot pink — a la the 6th generation iPod Touch and 7th generation iPod Nano, as opposed to the iPhone 6/6s’ rose gold option.

Another color’s fate that remains unclear in the report is the yellow gold option, which was first introduced alongside 2013’s iPhone 5s in an attempt to satisfy customers in the booming Chinese market. The yellow gold color later made it’s debut in other Apple products — such as the iPad Air, and the 12-inch MacBook, however, so while we can’t guarantee that it will be an option in the company’s removed 4-inch iPhone, it’s still a plausible prospect until otherwise confirmed or denied.

I suppose we’ll just have to wait and see about that …

Also, a vivid photo surfaced in January — supposedly showing Apple’s rumored ‘iPhone 5se’ alongside the 6/6Plus. And while we’re unsure of the legitimacy of the image at this point, if it does, in fact, happen to be authentic, then Cupertino’s revitalized 4-inch handset will more than likely share many of the same design aesthetics of the iPhone 6s — including curved edges, a sloping “2.5D” display, as well as a front-facing camera oriented towards the left of the ear speaker grille.

Production of the 4-inch iPhone is said to currently be well underway, ahead of a rumored March 15th announcement — where the company is also expected to debut a new ‘iPad Air 3’ and new Apple Watch accessories. Although details are scarce at this stage in the game, the smaller iPhone is expected to boast a metal-backed design similar to the current iPhone 6s, refreshed internals such as an A8 or A9 processor, and NFC support for Apple Pay functionality.

So what do you think about the rumored hot pink color option?
Too gaudy? Or just too hot to handle?
