Another year, another iPhone, so the story goes. Apple has released a refresh of the company’s blockbuster mobile handset every calendar year since the original iPhone’s debut back in June, 2007. However, as we approach the 10th generation of the device, expectations are understandably high, as the company is anticipated to release a major overhaul of the handset.

To that end, although the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus are currently in the early stages of development, a number of speculative renderings have begun to trickle about the airwaves.

Screen Shot 2015-12-28 at 7.33.08 PMThe latest to create a buzz is a rendering by the popular iPhone concept artist SCAvidsHD. Dubbed the ‘iPhone 7 Edge’, the artist apparently envisions a number of dramatic enhancements to the next iteration of Apple goodness. Principally among them is a 5.5-inch curved, edge-to-edge display boasting 2K (2,160 x 1,440) resolution, an A10 chipset featuring 4 GB of RAM, a shockingly large 3,500 mAh battery, surround sound speakers, and, wait for it, a 16 MP Camera!

To the naked eye, the device looks almost identical to the current iPhone 6 and 6s. However, around the sides, you’ll find a dual-channel speaker system; and the display, having taken a design cue from Samsung’s Galaxy 6 Edge, extends the entire width of the hardest, ultimately curving at the edges.

Unlike previous renderings of the iPhone 7 that we’ve seen to date, however, the SCAvidsHD concept sticks with the hardware home button featuring Touch ID, although it does lack the apparent “camera hump” around back that has led to much criticism and disdain for Apple thus far.

The rendering and specifications are quite impressive, indeed, however it’s still far too early to determine exactly what design aesthetics will be featured in the forthcoming handset.

Year after year, Apple fanatics with an artistic flow sit down and infiltrate the web with their mouth-watering, though lofty, design renditions of the next iPhone. And this year is no exception, as we’ve already seen a multitude of renderings pop up online and via a number of social media platforms.

This year, however, is a bit different from years past. The stakes are high for Apple, especially considering how the iPhone is already expected to see a dip in sales volume in 2016.

As has been the case, however, with the company’s previous numerical-based handset refreshes — such as the iPhone 4, 5 and 6 — it’s expected that Apple will bring to market a vastly redesigned device. We’re just hoping the ultimate product will be impressive enough to revitalize the company’s position in the ever-evolving, complex Smartphone market.

So what do you think about the latest design? Would you stand in line for an iPhone as beefy and spec’d-out as SCAvidsHD’s ‘7 Edge’?
