With just a little over three short weeks to go until Apple officially takes the wraps off its highly anticipated new iPhone SE handset, case manufacturers have already one-upped the company, once again — by bringing to market an assortment of cases for the long-rumored, 4-inch handset.

However, as we’ve seen a few different times in the past, and as you’ll see all the clearer below, these manufacturers that were quick to the punch have been unable to arrive at a formidable consensus as to what the precise dimensions and design aesthetics of the forthcoming iPhone SE will actually entail.

Images originally obtained by MacRumors have revealed that several distributors are currently offering a selection of ‘iPhone 5se’ cases for wholesale purchase. However, these cases appear to take design cues from not one, but both rumored designs of the soon-to-be-unveiled iPhone SE.

Which, as you may remember from the rumor mill, include one design that’s eerily consistent with the former iPhone 5 and 5s — featuring the upwards oriented power button located at the top of the device; as well as another design that’s more along the lines of the iPhone 6 and 6s —boasting design aesthetics such as slick, rounded edges, and the power button located on the side of the handset.

Historically speaking, at least, most case designers have often given us a clear indication as to what a forthcoming iPhone might look like. However, as we mentioned, there have been several instances over the years in which case designers have conflicted.

Perhaps the most notable of such instances occurred back in October, 2011, when Apple released the iPhone 4s. Back then, there was a lot of talk about a so-called ‘iPhone 5’, which many believed would hit the market in lieu of what came to be the 4s. So several case manufacturers, as is the scenario in this instance, too, fabricated and brought to market multiple case designs based on a number of conflicting rumors.

And with less than a few weeks to go before Apple officially reveals the iPhone SE, there’s clearly still some confusion as to what exactly the Silicon Valley tech-giant plans to release.

There have been a number of recent speculations to that effect, with some conservative analysts suggesting that the forthcoming iPhone might blend elements of both the iPhone 5/5s AND the 6/6s — such as the old-school box-like chassis with slightly curved edges, curved glass display, and glass covered antennas positioned at both the top and bottom of the device

It’s hard to reconcile with the conflicting rumors, indeed, especially considering how Apple has a notorious tendency of surprising customers and inside analysts. However, whatever way the cookie ultimately crumbles, it won’t be very long until we find out the truth.
