The fifth iOS 9 Beta version was released early this month, and it featured an array of stunning new wallpapers. Beautiful images of sand dunes, flowers, and feathers all pop with incredible color and clarity on Apple’s Retina screens. According to 9to5Mac, internal sources using iPhone 6s prototypes have reported that some of these wallpapers will feature gorgeous animations, taking inspiration from the ‘Motion’ face featured in the Apple Watch.
The ‘Motion’ faces of the Apple Watch may not be the wearable’s most useful feature, but it certainly is one of its most beautiful. It reportedly took 24,000 shots and over 280 hours to put together the brilliant animation on the blooming flower Apple Watch face. The feature was designed so that the user will see a different image, all shot in incredible detail, every time they raise their wrist. It appears as if you’ll be able to appreciate that stunning level of detail on a larger screen when the iPhone 6s is released. 9To5Mac reports that users will be able to choose from a range of animated wallpapers for their phone, featuring fish from a koi pond and colorful wisps of smoke, among others.
Although 9to5Mac‘s sources did warn that the animated wallpapers were seen on test devices, and may not make it into the final product, a recently leaked photo from Chinese website cnBeta claims to show iPhone 6s Plus packaging, featuring an iPhone with a fish wallpaper. The image, which is rather low resolution, could very well be fraudulent, but the fact that an animated koi fish wallpaper was also referenced by 9to5Mac lends a bit of credence to both the animated wallpaper rumor and the leaked photo.
The iPhone 6s and 6s Plus will also likely feature a Force Touch-compatible display, a new, faster processor, and an improved camera. The phone is expected to be revealed at recently announced Apple event on September 9th, along with a new Apple TV and several new iPad models.
