Apple has had wild success with the AirTag, which was just released in 2021 at the Spring Loaded event after being heavily expected and delayed since 2019. It showcases how Apple uses Johnathan Ive’s iconic iPod design from the prime iPods with stainless-steel backs.

It’s a much better design compared to Apple’s main competitor Tile – but just like Tile, which Apple is right now in a court battle with, the company wants to add on and diversify its AirTag lineup.

According to people familiar with the matter, Apple has begun work on a new AirTag “Pro” that is bigger than the current AirTag, but in a different form factor.

The form factor for the AirTag “Pro” is described as “a shape that is very similar to the app icons on iOS, a rounded square that integrates the tag hole right into the device.”

The purpose of this is to make sure that the new AirTag will be easily connected without adding a keychain that had to be integrated with the current AirTag.

Apple wants to target the AirTag Pro at a price of about $59 and will make updates to the Ultra Wideband technology that is currently used that connects with iPhones with the U1 chip (iPhone 11, iPhone 12, and iPhone 13 series).

Apple is supposedly working on a new U2 chip to be the successor to the U1 chip with a better range to enhance features such as the Precision Find, which many AirTag users love so far.

Ultra Wideband technology is one of the best features of the AirTag so far and has the upper hand over the Bluetooth technology that is used in major competitors like Tile. The AirTag “Pro” will compete with the Samsung Galaxy SmartTag + and the Tile Wallet, to name a few.

Apparently, Apple is working on what could be called the AirTag “Max” which would be a card-like tracker that will somehow be nearly as slim as the Apple Card.

According to folks familiar with the matter, the AirTag Max could come in multiple colors and is designed to go into your wallet.

Apple will take the Tile Slim head-on with the more customization options available. Apple will somehow use the Ultra Wideband technology in this slim form factor, but I know Apple can do it because they have wowed us before.

Apple has plans to also add on to this lineup with another tracker supposedly being developed for cars that can track them if they get jacked or stolen.

This whole lineup that’s in the works will directly compete with almost all of Tile’s trackers, and Apple is ready to expand the lineup as soon as 2023.

The supposed prices for the AirTag lineup will be as follows AirTag (2021) $29, AirTag Pro $59, AirTag Max $79. Tile is still currently in a legal battle that alleges Apple is an anti-competitive company.

What do you think about this new information? Will this lead to more conflict if it pans out with Tile and possibly Samsung? Let us know your thoughts on Twitter. Thanks for reading!
