I am sure I’m not the only one who thinks the Music app needs some updates. Of course, Apple introduced lossless quality and support for Dolby Atmos back in 2021, but we haven’t seen a redesign in the app or something new in quite a few years. Apparently, this will change soon.

I’ve been informed that Apple is working on something internally known as “Siri Picks” for exceptional music recommendations.

This will work as a “For you” page. Siri will generate playlists for you based on what you like and refresh your memory with songs you used to listen to through the years but have stopped playing.

It will consider many data points like how many times you listen to songs of a specific genre or even for which songs you raised the volume – and I have a picture of what it will look like.

Of course, what you see is just a template for the software engineers to work on. Please note that those names you see aren’t guaranteed to be the ones you see when this new feature releases. Apple works with tens of different variants before finally choosing one and making it available to the public.

Some people could argue that it’s just a renamed “Listen Now” tab, and from a mere visual standpoint, they wouldn’t be wrong. However, after discussing it with sources related to the matter that wish to remain anonymous, this will have more to do with the iPhone Neural Engine and machine learning.

The recommendations will be way better to compete with Spotify in that area, where the Swedish company is miles ahead of Apple.

I’m personally very excited about this feature. I’ve been using Apple Music for about three years now because of how well it works with all my Apple devices, but I’ve always felt like it was way more challenging to find new songs than with Spotify. So I think this is yet another step in the right direction. For many years, Apple pretended like they were the only company that had ever existed, which let it stop competing, so it is a good sign that this route seems to be changing.

Currently, I have no information on when this feature will be released, if it ever is. This year’s Worldwide Developers Conference could be an excellent time to launch it, but I couldn’t confirm this at the time of writing this article. I will keep you posted in case I receive more information regarding the launch of this feature.

As usual, please let me know what you think about this in the comments below. I hope you found this article helpful. Have a great day!
