Starting in 2022, Apple will be pushing hard into the AR market with some of its biggest products since the Apple Watch.

First, the Apple Immersive Reality headset has been pushed back to late 2022, even though it was expected to be announced at an in-person event in Q4 2021.

It will instead, from what I am told, be announced alongside Apple’s redesigned iPhone 14 models.

This new product is just laying the groundwork for Apple’s push into gaming as well as new reality experiences.

Apple Glasses will be the star product, however, which will eventually end up taking over and/or replacing the iPhone in the future. These Glasses will be the future of Apple, and they are expected to still come in 2023.

But from what I was told, Apple Glasses’ mass production has been pushed back, just like the Apple Immersive Reality headset coming later next year.

With the glasses being pushed back, we could see an announcement in 2023 and a release the following spring of 2024.

Apple Glasses are expected to use technology that interacts with the real world. They will sell in larger numbers compared to the headset being released in 2022.

Note that this will be Apple’s first attempt at AR glasses – and just like past innovative products like the iMac, iPod, iPhone, MacBook Air, and iPad, it may see yearly updates, as it will be one of Apple’s most important.

Note that the glasses won’t instantly replace the iPhone. You will need an iPhone (just like the Apple Watch), and I would imagine at WWDC 2022, Apple will begin setting it up within the major overhauls to iOS 16.

Yes, iOS 16 is expected to see a large overhaul, first preparing for the release of the Apple headset later in 2022.

The Apple Immersive Reality headset, which is going to be released next year, will tie into Apple’s gaming console plans, but will likely be set at a two-year upgrade cycle, unlike Apple Glasses.

Are you ready for Apple’s upcoming headset and glasses?
