Dual-SIM ‘iPhone Xc’ Rumored to Come in Blue, Red and Taupe

A new set of photos has leaked that could hint at unique color options for this year’s mid-range, 6.1-inch LCD iPhone.
The images, which allegedly depict SIM trays for the upcoming lower-cost handset, were shared on Twitter today by serial smartphone leaker Benjamin Geskin.
They were most likely sourced from Chinese social networks, where many supply chain leaks and components surface.
If these pictures are legitimate, they could suggest that the LCD iPhone — rumored to be dubbed the iPhone Xc, Xr or 9 — could come in Space Gray, Silver, Red, Blue and a new brownish shade.

Based on past reports, Apple has at least considered releasing the mid-range handset in a variety of colors, including white, blue, pink and red. Both the bold new color options and the potential “Xc” moniker echo Apple’s lower-cost iPhone 5c handset from 2013.
Of course, it’s worth noting that the blue shade depicting in the SIM tray photo is slightly off when compared to pictures of blue dummy handsets. That could be attributed to prototype color options or photographic errors, however.
In subsequent tweets, Geskin added that the brown shade could be called Taupe.
He also suggested that the SIM trays are double-sided and could support a SIM card on each side. That lines up with previous rumors of the lower-cost handset having dual-SIM capabilities in at least some markets.
The lower-cost 6.1-inch iPhone is expected to sport a variety of iPhone X-style features, like an edge-to-edge display and Face ID. But to keep its cost lower than its two OLED stablemates, the so-called iPhone Xc will feature mid-range specifications like an LCD-based display, a single rear-lens rear camera, and an aluminum frame.
Additionally, several reports have suggested that the iPhone Xc could be delayed or available in limited quantities at launch. According to one analyst, that’s likely due to production issues associated with the device’s LCD display.
The iPhone Xc will likely be unveiled at Apple’s iPhone keynote this week, alongside two premium devices — a 5.8-inch OLED iPhone XS and a larger-bodied 6.5-inch OLED iPhone XS Max or Plus.
