Once again, we find ourselves rapidly approaching that ever-joyful time of year when speculation about Apple’s next big software and hardware developer event will be taking place. To our delight, a new rumor has surfaced claiming that the company’s hotly anticipated World Wide Developer Conference, WWDC, will be taking place between the 13th and 17th of June this year.

If you’re not familiar with WWDC, it’s essentially an annual conference — held by Apple at the Moscone West convention center in San Francisco, California — that connects software and hardware developers from all around the world with Apple engineers.

Those who are fortunate enough to attend can sit in on software sessions and valuable workshops, product demonstrations, and receive insight into the future direction of the Cupertino-company.

WWDC 2016 is expected to be just as much, if not more exciting, than last year’s event — which saw the unveiling of iOS 9, OS X 10.11 El Capitan, watchOS 2, and Apple Music. To that effect, it’s expected that this year we will see the unveiling of iOS 10, OS X 10.12, in addition to potential product refreshes to the company’s Mac lineup.

Although Apple has yet to officially reveal a date/timeframe during which WWDC 2016 will take place, a new rumor has surfaced that suggest the event will likely be held between the 13th and 17th of June. This information, though preliminary for now, is brought to us courtesy of the Moscone Center’s current schedule for the month of June.

As you can see from the schedule of planned events above, and the days they’re taking place, there really is only one viable window left for WWDC to go down without stretching it.

Apple has, historically speaking, held the conference in June of each year, and there’s no indication at this point for a deviation from that norm. Additionally, Moscone is currently booked for the first, second, fourth, and fifth weeks of June, which pretty much leaves only the third week for Apple to hold its event.

Other scheduled events currently on the roster for June include the San Francisco Travel Association’s annual Luncheon, the 12th annual Red Hat summit, an International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR) convention, and a Biotechnology Industry conference.

So, with all that said, everything seems to be lining up just fine and dandy with Apple and Moscone West’s schedule timeline, so the rumored dates definitely sound plausible to us.

Of course, you never really know with Apple, right? They do like to give some occasional surprises, after all! Since the company has been holding its World Wide Developers Conference in the first few weeks of June since 2007, however, we’d say it’s a reasonably safe bet assume they’ll stick to the program.

We’ll update you about any future news pertinent to WWDC — when it becomes available, of course — so be sure to keep an eye out as we progress into the months ahead of us.
