6 New Apple Products We Can’t Wait to See in 2022

The year 2022 is just beginning, so Apple—or any big tech company—has yet to release its newest products. With that said, we already have a pretty good idea of what Apple has in store for us this year.
Whether it's because of rumors, or already expected products, it seems like Apple's going to release quite a few new products in 2022 and we couldn't be more excited about it. Granted, Apple will still have to confirm these new releases, but continue reading to see what we are most excited to see roll out this year.
Apple's First AR/VR Headset
First, we have a brand new product. Several rumors point out that Apple might be working on a new augmented reality and virtual reality headset that could come out this year.
This new headset is set to be a premium product, so it clearly won't be for everyone. There have been several rumors about the price for this new headset, with some people even saying that it'll cost around $3,000. We don't know exactly what the exact price might be, but it won't be cheap.
But there's a reason for that. According to rumors, Apple will add a high-end display on the headset, alongside a built-in processor and touch panels that you can use to control the headset with hand gestures. You'd also be able to control the headset with voice controls, most likely by talking to Siri.
There are also rumors that this new headset will come with its own App Store that'll feature exclusive apps and games and a "reality operating system" or rOS to help you navigate it.
The new headset is said to release near the end of the year, but it's possible that it gets pushed back to 2023 if needed.
Redesigned MacBook Air
It's been a little over a year since Apple released a new MacBook Air with an Apple Silicon chip inside. However, the company is already working on a newer model. And if you're looking to upgrade your MacBook, it might be worth the wait.
There are rumors that Apple's working on a new MacBook Air that'll be thinner and more powerful than the current versions. Design-wise, the new MacBook Air could lose its singular wedge shape in the chassis. The display could be larger since the bezels on the screen are said to be thinner. And the bezels and keyboard might feature a white color. Speaking of color, it's possible that Apple will introduce new colors to the MacBook Air similar to the 2021 Mac.
Just like the newer MacBook Pros, the new MacBook Air could feature the newer MagSafe charger, but it'll also have USB-C ports you can use to charge it.
It's possible that we'll see a new Apple Silicon chip in the new MacBook Air, but if that doesn't happen, we should expect at least a better version of the current M1 chip.
There aren't any official release dates, but it's possible that Apple might release the new MacBook Air in the middle of 2022.
New iPhone 14 Lineup
It's probably a given at this point. Apple's been releasing a new iPhone at the end of the year like clockwork for the last few years. Still, the new iPhone 14 might be one of the best releases just yet.
First, Apple's planning on ditching the iPhone mini this year. Instead, the iPhone 14 lineup is said to feature two regular size iPhones with a 6.1-inch display—the iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Pro—and two Max sizes with a 6.7-inch display—the iPhone 14 Max and the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
But perhaps the most significant change would be that Apple might skip the notch this year. It's possible that the company will go for a hole-punch camera at the front and maybe an in-display fingerprint sensor.
Granted, there's been a lot of speculation that Apple might delay this for another year due to manufacturing problems, but it's still a possibility. If they didn't do that, it is possible Apple would leave a small cutout near the front-facing camera for Face ID.
'Healthier' Apple Watch Series 8
Just like the iPhone, we're expecting Apple to release a brand new Apple Watch this year like it does every year. However, the Apple Watch Series 8 might bring a few new health features that we have been expecting since last year. We've heard of some small new health features: a sensor detecting temperature rising and a sleep apnea detector.
There are also rumors circulating that Apple might add blood glucose and blood pressure sensors to the Series 8, which would definitely change the smart wearables game. With that said, it's possible that Apple might take a little longer to introduce these features.
We should expect Apple to release the new Apple Watch Series 8 by the end of the year, alongside the new iPhone 14.
Long-Awaited AirPods Pro 2
A lot of us were expecting Apple to release the AirPods Pro 2 last year, alongside the third-gen AirPods. Unfortunately, that didn't happen, which means we might see the new AirPods this year.
What's new about the AirPods Pro 2 you ask? For starters, Apple is said to have completely changed the AirPods Pro design. Since the AirPods 3 now look like AirPods Pro, it's only natural for Apple to create a new type of AirPod Pro.
Rumor has it Apple will get rid of the stem on the new AirPods Pro, leaving a smaller design that will fit in the heart of your ear. It'll be similar to the Google Pixel Buds or the Galaxy Buds. The casing is said to be also smaller and has a different design as well.
Besides that, we're also expecting Apple to introduce a new chip inside the new AirPods Pro that'll be better for connectivity and also bring new features. It's possible that Apple might improve the AirPods Pro battery life, too, since the current generation AirPods Pro has the shortest battery life compared to the AirPods and AirPods Max.
Unfortunately, as of right now, we don't know when Apple plans on releasing the new AirPods Pro.
A More Powerful Mac mini
Like the MacBook Air, Apple might be planning to upgrade the Mac mini this year. Rumors said that Apple had the new Mac mini ready to launch last year. Since the company didn't release it, it's possible that it's preparing for a 2022 release.
On the outside, the Mac mini won't have a huge new design, but it's possible that the new desktop computer will feature an even thinner profile and will have more ports available.
Rumors also say that Apple will add a new, more powerful Apple Silicon chip, albeit we don't know exactly which one. The company may introduce a new chip like the rumored M2 chip. However, this is purely speculation.
Some rumors suggest that Apple might release the new Mac mini at a spring event this year, which would be around the time for Apple's Worldwide Developer's Conference.
