Great news for all you die-hard iPhone fans — especially those who, like myself, like to constantly be on the forefront of new technology trends, year after year, by upgrading to the latest and greatest handsets that money can buy. It appears that, with Apple’s ‘iPhone 7’ and ‘iPhone 7 Plus’ looming just over the imminent horizon, those who purchased an iPhone 6s (and are hoping to upgrade to the latest model) will likely be able to do so without taking too much of a financial loss on investment.

Well-connected Apple analyst, Gene Munster of Piper Jaffray, recently went on record indicating that — although the ‘iPhone 7’ is ever-so close to officially being unveiled — the Silicon Valley tech-giant’s most recent iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus handsets have still managed to retain upwards of 78% of their retail value. What’s more, while that number may not appear so impressive to the average user (especially those standing in line to absorb the loss), Munster suggested that the figure indicates how Apple’s iPhone resale business is still humming along at a healthy state.

Munster, a historically optimistic analyst, was basing his assumptions primarily on the fact that — out of the last several iPhone launches — Apple’s iPhone 4th, 5th, and 6th generation handsets have historically beaten Wall Street sales estimates by as much as 14% within the same 12-weeks of the launch of each device’s successor. Interestingly enough, if Apple sticks to its usual, late-September launch for the ‘iPhone 7’, that would put us just about 12 weeks out from the upcoming device touching down in all its glory.

Munster was also steadfast in his assumptions that sales volume of the forthcoming ‘iPhone 7’ would be “in line” with that of Apple’s iPhone 6 — however, whether he was referring to the iPhone 6, over the breadth of its life-cycle, or merely the handset at launch, isn’t exactly clear.. Still, Munster indicated that he believes analyst’s otherwise reserved expectations for the ‘iPhone 7’ could ultimately pan out in Apple’s favor — if on the off chance the Cupertino-company ends up selling more units than anticipated, of course.

As far as we know, however, Apple’s forthcoming ‘iPhone 7’ won’t be bringing much to the table — aside from a few minor enhancements, some beefed up optics, and upgraded internal components. However, the major design revisions, analysts predict, will come next year when Apple is rumored to introduce a vastly overhauled 10th generation iPhone.

Are you planning on selling your iPhone 6s to upgrade to the ‘iPhone 7’ this year? Let us know in the comments!
