While Apple is doing away with iTunes in macOS Catalina, that doesn’t mean you can’t still buy movies and TV shows on the platform. In fact, there’s actually a massive iTunes sale this weekend — so it’s actually a great time to buy some content for download and later viewing. Here’s what you need to know.

iTunes TV Show Sale

If you’re a fan of The Office or Friends, you’re in luck this week. Apple is offering some steep discounts on full bundles for the two series.

Friends is being marked down over the next couple of days. Apple has a bundle with every episode of Friends for $99.99, down from the usual price of $130. You can also own every single episode of The Office for just $24.99.

It’s worth noting that both of these shows may be axed from Netflix in the near future. So now’s the best time to ensure that you can watch them as much as you want in the years to come.

iTunes Movie Sale

In addition to the TV shows, iTunes is also holding a $5 sale on a variety of films. Some notable options include:

  1. American Psycho
  2. Gone Girl
  3. Ghostbusters
  4. Ghostbusters II
  5. Jaws
  6. To Kill A Mockingbird
  7. Slumdog Millionaire
  8. The Perks of Being a Wallflower

There are a lot more movies available for $4.99, as well as some other picks for $5.99 up to $12.99. You can see the full list of deals at this link. (You’ll need to have iTunes on your Mac or PC.)

What Happens in macOS Catalina?

This is an iTunes sale — but iTunes is getting officially killed off in the fall. So what happens to all of the content you’ve spent good money on?

Don’t worry, it won’t all vanish. Any movie or TV show you’ve purchased will still be fully accessible in the new Apple TV app in macOS Catalina and on iOS.

Going forward, the Apple TV app is also how you’ll purchase movies and TV shows for download. So nothing is really changing except that video content is getting its own app.
