While Apple TV is now the home for all things Peanuts, you won’t need a subscription this weekend to gather in the pumpkin patch and enjoy the classic Charlie Brown holiday special. Apple is once again streaming It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown for free to everyone, whether you’re a subscriber or not.
It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown will be available in the Apple TV app on Saturday, October 18, and Sunday, October 19 — with no subscription required.
When Apple became the exclusive streaming home of Peanuts five years ago, it moved the specials off their traditional broadcast schedules but pledged to continue offering the three most iconic ones — It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, and A Charlie Brown Christmas — free for a limited time each holiday season.
Apple’s long-term deal with Peanuts Worldwide and WildBrain — now extended through 2030 — goes far beyond the holiday specials and back-catalog of Peanuts content. It’s also reintroducing Charles Schulz’s timeless characters to a new generation, with a growing lineup of fresh Peanuts productions like The Snoopy Show and Camp Snoopy and new specials such as For Auld Lang Syne and One of a Kind Marcie that showcase the characters in an even more endearing light.
Nevertheless, the classics will always have a special place in our hearts. First aired in 1966, It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown was the second animated Charlie Brown special to bring the beloved characters off the comic strip and onto the TV screen. In it, Linus faithfully waits for the Great Pumpkin to rise from what he believes is the “sincerest” pumpkin patch in the world, while Charlie Brown struggles with his own Halloween party plans, and Snoopy takes to the skies in what’s now become his iconic Red Baron persona.
Even if you don’t subscribe to Apple TV, you can stream It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown for free this weekend in the Apple TV app, which is …available on nearly every major device, from smart TVs and game consoles to iPhone, iPad, Android, and any modern web browser.
Whether you’re watching for the first time or the fiftieth, this weekend is a great opportunity to revisit the pumpkin patch — and maybe, just maybe, recapture a bit of that childhood whimsy.
