The iPhone retained its position as the top-selling smartphone in the world by a huge margin last quarter, according to a new report by Strategy Analytics.

The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus were both rated as the first and second most popular models, with 21.5 million and 17.4 million units shipped, respectively. Similarly, Apple reported in its Q2 fiscal results that it had sold 50.8 million iPhone models last quarter — but the Cupertino-based company doesn’t break that number down by individual devices in its earnings reports. “The iPhone 7 is by far the world’s most popular smartphone model, due to a compelling blend of user-friendly design, extensive supporting apps, and widespread retail availability for the device,” said Neil Mawston, Strategy Analytics’ executive director.

According to specifics stated in the report, Strategy Analytics estimates that the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus together accounted for around 76 percent of all Apple smartphone sales, with the remaining 23 percent made up of other models such as the still-popular iPhone SE. Split between the two iPhone 7 models, the analytics firm suggests a sales split of 55/45 percent for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus respectively.

As far as the rest of the rankings, OPPO’s R9s smartphone trailed in at a somewhat distant third with 8.9 million shipments worldwide. In fourth and fifth place were two of Samsung’s mid-range smartphones, the Galaxy J3 with 6.1 million shipments and the Galaxy J5 with 5 million shipments. Samsung’s mid-range devices are typically popular regions across Europe and Asia. On the other hand, OPPO’s dominance over Samsung last quarter could be attributed to the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco and the fact that the Korean company’s latest flagship, the Galaxy S8, wasn’t released until this quarter.

The iPhone 7 lineup seems to have been passed the torch from its predecessors. Apple’s previous flagship, the iPhone 6s, was the best-selling smartphone globally in 2016, according to IHS Markit.
