We love our smartphones, and many of us like (or even depend on) coffee. So why not combine the two? That may sound like the premise for a parody product, but one Italian company is taking that idea and running with it.

Enter Mokase. It’s a phone case that doubles as a portable espresso machine. It works by using a special cartridge that fits into the case itself, and is heated up by a built-in battery. Plastic and heat typically doesn’t marry well, so the Mokase uses an aluminum-silicon alloy pipe to actually dispense the hot espresso without any toxins once it’s reached the proper temperature — between 50 and 60 degrees Celsius (about 122 and 140 degrees Fahrenheit). The result is a small shot of espresso, about 25ml worth, which is slightly less than the standard shot size of 29ml (one ounce).

To use it, you simply insert the proprietary, wafer-like vacuum cartridge into the case. From here, you open up the corresponding Mokase app to initiate the heating and dispensing process. It’s not really clear whether the case’s battery requires separate charging, or whether it somehow charges along with the smartphone itself. As far as the coffee goes, Mokase is apparently debuting three flavors to start: Classic, Toasted and Arabic (although there similarly isn’t much information about the coffee beans or how they’re sourced). The phone case itself is being made in a variety of versions to fit popular smartphone models from the likes of Apple, Samsung or LG.

Mokase originally debuted on Kickstarter, but funding for the project was apparently suspended on May 8 (for unknown reasons). If you’re interested in picking up an espresso-dispensing phone cover, you can still preorder a Mokase on the company’s website for about $56. You can also order the disposable coffee cartridges separately in packs of 15, 30 or 50 for $10, $18.50 and $28, respectively.
