Nowadays, it’s pretty easy to stop talking to people and just block them with a few taps. Usually, that’ll be more than enough to give you some peace of mind.

However, what happens when you’re the one getting blocked? Even worse, what happens when you aren’t sure if you were blocked or not. Not knowing can be a bit hard to deal with.

Fortunately, there are a few ways you can try to find out if someone blocks you. Warning: you may not like the answer.

Your Calls Immediately Go to Voice Mail

If you keep calling someone and your calls go straight to voice mail, it’s possible that you’ve been blocked.

6 Apps Everyone Should Absolutely Have on Their iPhone & iPad - Number 1 is Our Favorite

The App Store has become completely oversaturated with all the same repetitive junk. Cut out the clutter: These are the only 6 iPhone apps you’ll ever need...Find Out More

Granted, that’s not always the case. The other person might have their phone turned off, they may have a poor signal, or they’re using Do Not Disturb. However, if you try several times during different times of the day, that’s not a good sign. Of course, don’t spam phone calls to people, or else you will get blocked.

If you end up getting an automated response like a text message, it means you’re not blocked. It just means they’re busy and can’t talk right now, which is a good thing.

You Can Try Calling Hiding Your Phone Number

As reported by the Business Insider, you can cover your phone number when you call someone. That way, if they do answer your masked phone number, but they don’t answer your actual phone number, it’s possible you’re being either ghosted or blocked.

All you need to do is dial *67 before you dial the number of the person you want to call. This will mask your phone number, and it’ll help you determine if the person is busy or not at the moment.

Do Your iMessages Look Like Regular Text Messages?

If the other person you talk to also has an iPhone, you can take advantage of the Messages app and iMessage. When you text someone through iMessage, your text messages will appear in a blue bubble. If the other person blocked you, it’s possible that your text bubble will be green, which is not a good sign.

Granted, that’s not the only reason why the text bubble would turn green. For starters, the other person might have switched to an Android phone, and they didn’t tell you about that. Likewise, if you or the other person don’t have a good internet connection, your iPhone may send the iMessage as a regular text message.

You Can’t Send Them Text Messages

With that said, if your regular SMS messages don’t go through either, then it’s highly likely the other person blocked you. Again, this could be because their phone is turned off or because of poor signal quality. But if you tried the other methods on the list and still can’t get a response, then you might be blocked.

Try Using Other Instant Messaging Apps

You can try reaching out to other people with other instant messaging apps like Telegram, Whatsapp, or Facebook Messenger.

With a lot of these apps, it’s easier to figure out if you’re blocked or not. For instance, with Whatsapp, if someone blocks you, you won’t be able to see their profile picture or the status they post. Additionally, your messages, phone calls, or video calls won’t go through. If that’s the case, then you’re probably blocked.

Ask Someone For Help

If your try all the other methods and you’re still not sure if you were blocked or not, you can ask a friend or a family member for help. You can ask them to send a message to the other person or give them a phone call just to verify if the phone call or message goes through. If not, that means the other person might have a problem with their phone, which is completely possible.

However, if the call or message does go though, then we got some bad news for you: They probably blocked you.

Life After Getting Blocked

Fortunately, even if finding out that someone blocked you is harsh, life goes on. At least you won’t feel the need to know if you’re blocked or not anymore. Don’t worry; you’ll surely meet more people in the future.

Just make sure not to try all of our tips at once. If you’re that pushy, people might block you for real.
