If you’re using Netflix, we’ve got some bad news for you. The popular streaming service is raising its pricing in the U.S. and Canada one more time. Now depending on the plan you have, you might have to pay up to $2 more than before – and even if you have the cheapest plan available, you’ll still see a $1 increase for the month.

Netflix Just Increased Its Prices (Again)

Let’s cut to the chase; these are the new prices for every Netflix plan available.

  1. The Basic plan goes from $8.99 to $9.99 per month. A $1 increase.
  2. The Standard plan goes from $13.99 to $15.49 per month. A $1.50 increase.
  3. The Premium plan goes from $17.99 to $19.99 per month. A $2 increase.

This means that, yearly, you’ll have to pay $119.88 for the Basic plan, $185.88 for the Standard plan, and $239.88 for the Premium plan, which is more than some of us can afford.

Netflix decided to change its subscription prices just last Friday—basically without telling anyone. According to Netflix’s site, these new prices will immediately apply to new subscribers.

For existing subscribers, on the other hand, the price increase will gradually apply to them.

According to the Netflix website, all current members will get an email notification 30 days before the price changes unless they change plans.

As of right now, Netflix hasn’t given any statement as to why it needed to increase its prices. In the past, the company has said that it needed to raise prices to fund more original shows and movies.

Unfortunately, it seems like Netflix is making prince increases a common thing now. The last price increase was back in October of 2020; Netflix increased the price in January of 2019. Netflix’s new prices are no joke. This price increase makes it one of the most expensive streaming services available when compared to Disney+, HBO Max, and Apple TV.
