Honda fans were ultimately disappointed when Apple revealed their first press photos for CarPlay, which proudly taunted its interface on the touchscreen display of a 2014-2015 model Honda Civic. It was later revealed that CarPlay would not be coming as a software update to those models, and would instead make its debut on the 2016 Honda Civic.
Well, here’s good news for those of you who are looking to sign a new lease and upgrade your vehicle. You’ll finally be able to get your hands on the CarPlay interface – and best of all – it will be wrapped around the fastest, most powerful Honda Civic ever produced in the states: The 2017 Type R.
The new Honda Civic Type R will come to the US this spring, featuring a beastly 2.0-liter four-cylinder that will make 306 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. With that much power, you’ll hopefully be paying attention to the road – not your phone – which CarPlay makes easier than ever. With built-in voice dictation from Siri you’ll be able to respond to iMessages, pick a playlist, navigate, and more without the dangers or legal ramifications of handling your phone while driving.
On a lighter note, all 306-horses will be pushed to the front wheels via a manual transmission, and when you’re ready to slow down (maybe) the car will come to a quick stop with four-piston Brembo brakes on the front, and single-piston brakes in the rear.
You’ll be able to take home one of these outstanding vehicles with Apple’s regarded CarPlay interface for an estimated $30,000+. Learn more about the Honda Civic Type R at Honda’s official website, here.
