Bill Gates may own an iPhone, but he hardly uses it. According to 9to5Google, Gates again confirmed that an Android-powered smartphone is still his daily driver. Ironically, Gates shared these anti-Apple sentiments on Clubhouse, an audio-based social network currently only available on the iPhone.

Speaking to journalist Andrew Ross Sorkin and Clubhouse co-founder Paul Davidson, Gates talked about why he chose Android and uses the Google-powered platform. According to Gates, he likes the openness of the Android ecosystem and more.

“I actually use an Android phone. Because I want to keep track of everything, I’ll often play around with iPhones, but the one I carry around happens to be Android. Some of the Android manufacturers pre-install Microsoft software in a way that makes it easy for me. They’re more flexible about how the software connects up with the operating system. So that’s what I ended up getting used to. You know, a lot of my friends have ?iPhone?, so there’s no purity.”

Gates also expressed regret at how he handled Windows phone, Microsoft’s mobile software.

Gates called the failure of Windows Phone his “greatest mistake.”

After using a Windows Phone until the bitter end, Gates finally transitioned to the Android platform in 2017.
