This keyboard app is to typing what a sommelier is to wine-drinkers. Developed by Swiftkey, which was acquired by Microsoft earlier this year, SwiftMoji is predictive add-on to your iOS or Android keyboard that uses your text and its knowledge of popular culture to suggest appropriate emojis for your message.

For those who rely regularly on emojis to spice up their conversations and find it bothersome to rifle through hundreds of emojis when scrawling off a quick text, this app can save you a lot of time and grief. Of course, it’s not for everyone but it could teach those who are behind the times a thing or two about social media.

For instance, Engadget reports that if you are gushing and fawning over the latest Beyoncé music video with your BFF, SwiftMoji will savvily and helpfully suggest “queen” and “bee”.

The SwiftMoji interface differs depending on whether you are an Android or iOS user. The app is a full-blown keyboard replacement for Android users, while it is restricted to suggesting emojis on iOS. iOS 10, which is forthcoming, promises to feature similar predictive keyboard suggestions. It is also only restricted to the English language, according to Engadget.

Lifehacker tested the app and found that many of the suggestions were still quite literal. For instance, talk of America would yield an American flag, suggesting that the app might not be as personalized and helpful for those who are already fluent in emoji.
