Snapchat is getting rid of its daily “Live Stories” content for cities, which will result in the loss of 15 jobs, according to Bloomberg.

“A small number of Local Story curator positions were eliminated in our Los Angeles and New York offices, as the result of changes to our Local Story coverage,” Snapchat said in a statement. “We’re thankful for the contributions from these team members.”

Live Stories from cities, such as New York, Paris, and Los Angeles, feature a curated series of videos and photo submitted by Snapchat users, that are updated daily. They provide an interesting peek into the daily goings-on around a city, providing a crowd-sourced and curated snapshot of 24 hours. They are featured alongside feeds of major events such as sports games, red carpet events, and political conventions.

Such coverage of significant events will likely be pursued through brokering partnerships with organizations such as the NBA in which Snapchat would split ad revenues.

Live Stories will still be curated and uploaded for significant local and national events, but they will not be done daily.

The main impetus for this move seems to be that Live Stories do not attract as much traffic as other features, such as Discover, since their content is focused on one city, according to The Verge.

The Venice-based company, which is currently valued at approximately $18 billion, is currently considering an IPO.
