While most smartphone batteries can provide a day’s worth of moderate use, many of us have found ourselves in a situation where we’ve watched one music video or played one game too many and drained our smartphones of power. To make matters worse, batteries degrade over time, losing capacity the more they’re used.

If this sounds like you, battery life is a critical factor to account for when purchasing your next smartphone. Fortunately for smartphone shoppers, CNET has just released its latest ranking of smartphones with the best battery life, which we’ve summarized below.

One major takeaway from these rankings is that Samsung consistently provides high performance along with great battery life. Not only did it dominate the top slots in this study, it also did well in comparable rankings published by Yahoo and Consumer Reports this year.

1. Samsung Galaxy S7 Family

The top three smartphones with long battery lives were all Samsung models. Samsung’s entire Galaxy S7 family, including the S7 Active, S7 Edge, and S7 dominated the top tier, lasting 21, 19, and 16 hours respectively.

2. OnePlus 3

Coming behind the Galaxy S7 family is the third flagship device from OnePlus, which comes equipped with an impressive array of extras such as a powerful 16-megapixel camera and a Snapdragon 820 processor. It lasts 14 hours and 17 minutes on average and is modestly priced at $399.

3. Xiaomi Mi 5

This Chinese smartphone is a sleek and powerful beast, featuring a 16-megapixel camera and a modern 5.15-inch glass display. This handheld clocked in 14 hours, but is unfortunately only available in India and China at the moment.

4. Huawei Mate 8

The Mate 8 is another Chinese build, and features a robust 6-inch screen in addition to a fingerprint reader. While it’s 4000 mAh battery keeps the Mate 8 chugging along for an impressive 16 hours, it’s rather expensively priced at $650, which may account for its demotion in the rankings.

5. Samsung Galaxy J3

The South Korean tech giant rounds out this ranking with its Galaxy J3, which provides 15 hours and 40 minutes of usage at the very affordable price of $200. It’s certainly not the most powerful of the smartphones featured on this list, but prospective buyers might find that the battery and cheap price make this purchase worth it.
