In celebration of its 50th anniversary, LG has built a large OLED tunnel at its IFA consumer electronics exhibit in Messe Berlin, Germany. The tunnel is lined with 216 55-inch curved OLED panels to create an immersive 15-meter promenade that is by turns dizzying, spectacular and awe-inspiring.

With half a billion pixels of swirling imagery lining the 50-foot pathway, LG’s OLED tunnel is quite possibly one of the best ways to watch a nature documentary on the planet. The tunnel feels more like an art installation than a tech demo but it’s undeniably a good way for LG, a leading producer of OLED displays, to show off its chops.

For the event, LG commissioned dazzling footage of the Northern Lights in Iceland, recorded in breathtaking detail using 14 separate 8K cameras. When played at the OLED tunnel, the Northern Lights footage created a psychedelic microcosm that stopped visitors in their tracks. The exhibition also featured footage of deep space and the ocean (replete with a swimming pod of whales) in vibrant colors like you’ve never seen them before.

In addition, LG used the occasion to unveil two OLED screen prototypes with high frame rates (rendering 100/120 frames per second) that played HLG HDR video clips over IP streaming.
