Have you noticed that your DoorDash orders are a bit more expensive now? Well, if you are an iPhone user, you aren’t the only one.

Several users have complained that DoorDash is charging iPhone users higher prices than their Android counterparts. What’s more, the company has already been sued and might be charged over $1 billion dollars. Here’s everything you need to know.

DoorDash Is Allegedly Charging iPhone Users More Than Android Users

In recent months, there have been a lot of complaints by iPhone users claiming that the delivery service, DoorDash, is charging them a few dollars more per order compared to Android users.

As TikTok user thelawyerangela shares, many DoorDash receipts show that the app is charging iPhone users up to $2 more than Android users.

This seems to happen even if both the iPhone and Android users make the same order in the same place and at the same time.

This has led people to believe that, since it’s assumed that iPhone users are in a higher income bracket than Android users, DoorDash is deliberately increasing the price of its service for them.

But unfortunately, that’s not all. You see, DoorDash also offers a subscription service called DashPass, which is supposed to give all its users special discounts.

But as you can see in the video above, it seems DoorDash still charges more to iPhone users with a DashPass compared to Android users who aren’t subscribed.

The platform also charges “expanded range” charges that will be charged depending on where you are located.

DoorDash Is Facing a Lawsuit Because of This

As you can imagine, people aren’t happy with this, which is why a lawsuit has been filed against DoorDash for the small amount of $1 billion dollars.

Beyond the price differences, the suit also claims that DoorDash actively sends orders to restaurants that are farther than necessary so it can charge the expanded range fee.

Of course, as you can expect, DoorDash is denying all this. A spokesperson told The New York Post that “DoorDash does not charge more based on the type of phone you use — period” and that some of the allegations are “patently false.”

Still, the suit isn’t done yet, so we’ll have to wait and see what the court thinks of all this.

Will You Keep Using DoorDash?

If you’re an iPhone user, using DoorDash right now might not sound like a good idea. However, keep in mind that there’s not enough proof as of yet to determine if what other iPhone users are saying is 100% accurate.

We’ll have to wait and see how this unfolds. In the meantime, you might be better off trying a DoorDash alternative for a while.
