Apple’s Senior Vice President Phil Schiller declared that the battery in the iPhone 7 Plus is the “best yet” during its splashy launch event, yet the same certainly does not hold true for its counterpart, the iPhone 7. In fact, thanks to an AppleInsider report, it has come to light that the iPhone SE provides better battery life than the latest iPhone 7.

According to Apple’s product description, the iPhone SE has the capacity to last up to 12 hours on 3G and 13 hours on LTE and Wi-Fi when fully charged. Moreover, it provides up to 14 hours of talk time, 13 hours of video playback and 50 hours of audio playback. None too shabby.

On the other hand, the iPhone 7 only exceeds the iPhone SE’s battery when it comes to Wi-Fi. It is listed by Apple as supporting up to 14 hours of talk, 12 hours of 3G, 12 hours of LTE, and 14 hours of Wi-Fi. In addition, it provides 40 hours of audio playback (to the iPhone SE’s 50) and 13 hours of video playback.

If battery life is foremost among your buying criteria, you’re better off opting for the iPhone 7 Plus, which outpaces its lesser counterparts by a hefty margin. The iPhone 7 Plus supports up to 21 hours of 3G talk time, 13 hours of LTE, 15 hours of Wi-Fi, 14 hours of video playback and up to 60 hours of audio playback.

iPhone 7’s less than revolutionary battery life can be attributed to its limited size, which in turn limits the size of its battery cell.
