On April 24th, you won’t be able to stand in line like you would normally for a new iPhone. You must make a reservation. When you order online you can have the watch delivered to your home or do an in-store pickup.

Pre-orders for the Apple Watch begin this Friday, April 10th at 12am PST. Also on Friday, there will be some models available to browse in select Apple Stores. As iDrop covered in an earlier article, you will need to schedule a fitting with an employee to try on the Apple Watch. On April 24th the Apple Watch will arrive and be available for in store purchase; however, Apple will encourage people to order the new product online.

This means the end of people camping out in front of Apple Stores while they wait for the exact minute of the release. Apple has also announced that on launch day they will only be catering to customers who have ordered the Apple Watch in advance. Apple’s explanation is that customers will need fittings when they arrive, which will take additional time. We predict that there will still be lines and people waiting faithfully like they have in the past.

Inventory may be limited for certain models, so if you have to be one of the first people to have an Apple Watch you should figure out which style of watch and band you want and start your pre-order as soon as possible on Friday.
