Apple released a minor update to the watchOS 5 operating system today that aims to fix the issues plaguing their latest release.

Officially made available on September 17, watchOS 5 brought a handful of new workouts and upgrades to the Apple Watch. The new operating system primarily focused on helping users stay healthy and connected by offering a host of features that included an improved multi-task friendly user interface, a walkie-talkie feature, health and fitness tracking improvements and activity sharing competitions.

A little over a week after its release, users began to experience issues with incorrect increments of exercising minutes as well as inaccurate tracking of activities during the afternoon specifically regarding Stand credits, which are exercise credits earned by standing each hour.

The update, watchOS 5.0.1 rectifies the issues hampering Apple Watch performance. It fixes the bug causing the minute tracking inaccuracies. It also addresses the Stand credit issue as well as restoring the ability to close Activity rings. Lastly, it fixes a separate issue that could have potentially prevented the Apple Watch from charging altogether.

The watchOS 5.0.1 update is available now. To update the operating system on the Apple Watch simply:

  1. Open the Apple Watch app.
  2. Go to the My Watch Tab.
  3. Tap General.
  4. Then select Software Update.
