Apple has banned an app called Rich Kids that let wealthy socialites flaunt and show off their luxurious lifestyles, according to a new report.

The app, which charged a monthly fee of $1,000 to use, was reportedly pulled from the App Store in late October by Cupertino for being “inappropriate,” The Washington Post reported. Since its launch in September 2016, it has served as an exclusive club of sorts, where anyone can view photos, but only the wealthy can post them. Critics of the app described it as everything from “awful,” “disgusting” and “everything that is wrong with the world,” according to several posts on Product Hunt, a testing site for tech companies and startups to get feedback on their apps.

Among the app’s members were the likes of Emir Bahadir, a Turkish real estate heir, Robert Cavalli, son of fashion designer Roberto Cavalli, and Ukranian socialist Julia Stakhiva, who infamously boasted that she was “too beautiful to work,” according to The Memo.

The app seems to have taken a cue from the famous Instagram account Rich Kids of Instagram, which regularly sees posts of yachts, expensive bottles of champagne, and other images of a life lived excessively and glamorously, all bordered by gaudy, digital gold frames. Although, of course, there’s some debate as to whether these “rich kids” are actually rich.

As for the Rich Kids app, Fox Valley Apps, the creators of the platform, isn’t exactly happy about Apple’s decision. “Rich Kids didn’t break any App Store guidelines or rules and it was purely a decision of Apple’s review team which found the app inappropriate,” the group wrote in a statement.

“We keep everything public as it’s no fun being so rich if others can’t see,” app co-founder Juraj Ivan said.

But those few “rich kids” who are distraught by Apple’s decision can still view and post on the official website, and the app’s creators are reportedly working on an Android version of the platform.
