The original Apple Watch is probably not on anyone’s radar, considering the Apple Watch Series 7 was just announced this month – however if you do happen to have the first-ever Watch, you can officially say that you own a vintage wearable.

Apple first released the Apple Watch in 2015, and as of today, it is on Apple’s list of vintage and obsolete products. This is the very first time that an Apple Watch is making an appearance on the list.

What Makes an Apple Product Vintage?

An Apple Product is considered vintage when Apple has not distributed it for sale for more than five, but less than seven, years. However, to be obsolete, it must not be distributed for over seven years.

If you are an owner of a vintage Apple product that needs repairs, it is difficult to find an Apple store with the appropriate parts to fix it, but depending on the issue at hand, you could get lucky. Meanwhile, Apple is even more unlikely to be able to fix an obsolete product.

Apple discontinues all hardware service for obsolete products, with the sole exception of Mac notebooks that are eligible for an additional battery-only repair period. Service providers cannot order parts for obsolete products.

Along with the Apple Watch, Apple also added the 12-inch MacBook from 2015 to the list today.
