Apple delighted its loyal fans and journalistic purveyors around the globe, on the morning of September 7th, when the Cupertino-California-based tech-titan officially took the wraps off its 9th generation iPhone 7, in addition to a refreshed, 2nd generation wearable — the Apple Watch Series 2. As we learned at the event from company executives speaking on stage, Apple Watch Series 2 boasts the same, extrinsic design language of the original Apple Watch — albeit with some significantly beefed up internals roaring under the hood.

If you’ll recall, however, Cupertino at the time also announced a forthcoming ‘special edition’ Apple Watch Series 2 — known as the Apple Watch Nike+. Essentially a carbon copy of the standard Watch Series 2, the Nike+ Watch boasts a sleek aluminum outer casing, coupled with a special, perforated mesh sport band that comes in a variety of color options.

In addition to all the great features that the Apple Watch Series 2 has to offer, Apple Watch Nike+ will up the ante on the software side just a bit — throwing in a bounty of additional, pre-loaded apps geared specifically towards runners and exercise enthusiasts. This includes the all-new Nike+ Run Club app that was shown off on stage, which offers users a comprehensive, accurate method of tracking the progress of their run, while tossing in a neat social-media-style component with the intent of connecting avid runners with other, like-minded runners in their area.

Aside from the aforementioned upgrades (or downgrades, depending on your personal outlook on life), not much else differentiates the Apple Watch Nike+ from the standard, base-model Apple Watch Series 2. Actually, the only thing Apple didn’t reveal to us at the company’s September 7th event was when, exactly, the Apple Watch Nike+ would be available.

The company did say “October,” for its part, but I mean — that’s pretty vague, you know?

So, anyways, get this — while we’ve been eagerly waiting for more formal clarification from Apple regarding the availability of the Nike+ Watch, lo and behold, the Cupertino-company went right ahead and beat us to the punch, quietly updating its website, presumably some time during the last few days, with a new update: that the Apple Watch Nike+ will launch on October 28th. Surprise!

In terms of pricing, the base-model, 38mm Apple Watch Nike+ will run a flat $369, while the marginally larger, 42mm size will be offered at a flat $399. You’ll get to choose from various case colors, including smoke gray and silver aluminum, as well as multiple choices of bands in varying colors.

Will you be picking up an Apple Watch Nike+ later this month? Let us know in the comments!
