How to Watch the ‘Planet of the Apps’ Premiere for Free

Apple’s first reality TV show, “Planet of the Apps,” recently premiered on Apple Music alongside a screening at WWDC ’17. And, for a limited time, Apple is making the pilot episode available to download or stream for free.
The show is certainly Shark Tank-esque, and features app developers pitching their respective projects to a panel that includes Jessica Alba, Gwyneth Paltrow, will.i.am and Gary Vaynerchuk. “Planet of the Apps” is also an Apple Music exclusive, meaning that subsequent episodes will only be available to subscribers of Apple’s music streaming service — they’ll be released each Tuesday on the platform. But, if you’re curious and want to watch the first episode, you can follow the steps below.
Watch on PC or Mac
The easiest way to watch the first episode of “Planet of the Apps” is simply to open up the browser of your choice, and go to the following link — where the first episode is available to stream via a browser-based video player (though only in certain countries).
There’s currently no word on how long the first episode will be available for, so take advantage of it while you can. Alternatively, you can download the episode to your computer via iTunes on a PC or Mac.
Watch on iPhone and iPad
Curiously, while the show’s premiere is available for free, you’ll still need an Apple Music subscription or trial to stream it via the Music app on iOS. On the other hand, you can download the episode or stream it for free via the TV app. Just open the TV app and search for “Planet of the Apps.”
You can also download the episode to your device via the iOS iTunes Store. Here’s how.
- Open iTunes Store.
- Search for Planet of the Apps.
- Tap on the Get button.
- Authenticate it via Touch ID or your password (you’re not buying anything, it’s still free).
- Once authenticated, you can find the episode under the Purchased tab.
