It’s holiday season, which means there is set to be plenty of gift giving. For some people, however, there will also be plenty of gift returning.
While some companies would make it difficult to return items, if allowing you to return something at all, Apple, thankfully, makes things as easy as It can be, allowing you to return products you’ve purchased, or that someone else has purchased for you as a gift.
Can My Stuff Even Be Returned?
According to the Apple website, items purchased from Apple’s online store between November 1 and December 25 can be returned until January 8. So, during the holiday season it should be pretty easy to return products. After December 25, however, Apple’s standard return policy is back in practice. What this policy says is basically that users have 14 days after an item is purchased to return it, and that only items purchased from Apple directly can be returned. So, if your new iPad was bought at Best Buy, you’ll have to take a look at Best Buy’s return policy.
It is important to note that there are some things that cannot be returned. These include things like opened software that has been installed on a device, downloads, gift cards, and developer products.
How Do I Return My Items?
There are a few ways that items can be returned. If you bought the item you want to return, you can head to the online Order Status page using your Apple ID. This will show you a list of your recent orders, and you can simply press on the return link and verify the information. Once the returns are verified, users can hit the Print Now button, and a pre-paid shipping label will be printed out, enabling the user to ship back the item purchased.
Of course, when it comes to the holidays its more than likely that you won’t have been the one that purchased the item. While you might want to head to the Apple Store to return a gift, it’s actually pretty easy to also do online. Users simply have to sign in like before, click on the Return Items button and select the Gift Return option. Once you’ve done this, you will be presented with a field to enter the barcode number of the item to be returned, which will then enable you to review the items to be returned.
After entering this information and selecting the right product, users will be given instructions on how to return the item, along with a shipping label, like before.
Of course, you can also return gifts at your nearest Apple Store, which might be the best choice if you don’t want to go through the online return process. It will help to take a gift receipt along if you have it, but if not you may still be able to return the item for a gift card or exchange for another product on sale at the Apple Store.
What Will I Get?
Apple offers different returns for different situations. For those that purchased an item and decide that they want to return it, a cash return should be possible. This is especially true of returns conducted online, and Apple will simply put the money back in the account using the information from the original purchase. In-store should be the same scenario.
Cash, of course, will only be offered to users who use cash for the purchase. If an item or product is bought with a gift card, which will be sent to the user over email in the case of an online return.
If, however, the item is a gift and you’re returning the item with a gift receipt, you won’t get cash, but rather will get a gift card or credit to be used in the store. This can be used to purchase anything in the store, or be put towards online purchases.
As you can see, things are pretty easy when it comes to returning items with Apple. Even if there isn’t an Apple Store near you, you can still return an item online, which is extremely helpful for many people. Then again, hopefully everyone will get what they want this Christmas and won’t have to return anything anyway.
