iOS 10 brings with it a lot of sweet features and improvements, and forthcoming updates promise to bring even more, but the operating system is not without it troublesome glitches and flaws. Thankfully, there are a couple of ways to deal with the most common and pesky bugs.

Here’s a list of five common iOS bugs and guides on how to fix them:

5. “Hey Siri” Voice Prompt Doesn’t Work

If Siri doesn’t respond to the voice command “Hey Siri”, you can go to Settings > Siri and make sure that the feature has been enabled.

Second, you can try resetting your phone to its default settings and see if Siri becomes responsive after:

  • Settings
  • General
  • Reset
  • Reset All Settings

4. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Connection Issues

iPhone users have also reported trouble connecting via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on iOS 10. If there isn’t an issue with your wireless router, iOS may be the culprit. One thing you can do when you encounter Wi-Fi issues is to forget the network that’s giving you grief and attempt to reconnect to it. You can do this by going to

  • Settings
  • Wi-Fi
  • Select your connection
  • Select Forget this Network. You can then try to reconnect to it.

If that fails, there’s a quick and easy way to completely reset your phone’s wireless connections to their default settings without discarding data:

  • Settings
  • General
  • Reset
  • Reset Network Settings.

3. Performance Issues

If you find that iOS 10 is running sluggishly and taking a while to fire up apps and toggle between them, it may be time to do a little spring-cleaning.

You can try powering down extraneous services that run in the background like automatic updates (

  • Settings
  • iTunes and App Store
  • Scroll down to ‘Automatic Downloads’
  • Switch off  Updates and Background App Refresh
  • Settings
  • General
  • Background App Refresh
  • Toggle off the apps that shouldn’t be constantly refreshing.

You can also enable Reduce Motion, which gets rid of special motion effects:

  • Settings
  • General
  • Accessibility
  • Reduce Motion

Finally, you should also be sure to check for updates on your apps. iOS developers try to regularly roll out bug fixes and performance enhancements for their apps.

2. iMessage Effects Aren’t Working

Sometimes, those whimsical iMessage special effects aren’t received at all by your buddy or sent instead as text descriptions. If that’s an issue you’re experiencing, the first thing you should do is restart iMessage:

  • Settings
  • Messages
  • Toggle iMessages Off
  • Toggle iMessage On

Second, as we described earlier, you can try to toggle Reduce Motion off and then on.

1. Battery Drainage Issues

Battery problems are among the most common and serious issues plaguing iOS 10.1.1 users. Many people have reported that their battery life has been dissipating quickly since installing iOS 10.1.1, and that their iPhones have began to power down without warning. Fortunately, there are a couple of creative ways to deal with this pesky issue, that we’ve listed here.

If those options fail, here are two more surefire ways to squeeze extra performance out of your iPhone’s battery. First, you should enable ‘Low Power Mode’, a feature that conserves battery life. You can do that by going to

  • Settings
  • Battery
  • Low Power Mode
  • On.

Second, if you notice an alarming rate of battery drainage, it may be because you’re in a bad service area with shoddy cellular coverage. In those situations, you may want to turn on ‘Airplane Mode’, which shuts off all wireless connectivity and goes a long way toward conserving energy. Just swipe up from the bottom bezel to access the Control Panel, and tap the airplane icon at the top-left corner.
