What Not to Expect at Tomorrow’s ‘Wonderlust’ Event
Apple's fall Wonderlust event is just around the corner, and while the company hasn't confirmed anything that we might see tomorrow, we already have a pretty clear idea of what devices will launch.
On the other hand, we also have a pretty good idea of what Apple will not show this time around. The company is already working on many different new products that we should see in the next few months, but just because it's already working on some cool products doesn't mean we'll see them next Tuesday. These are the products that you shouldn't expect during tomorrow's event.
We Won't See New AirPods (Possibly)
We've seen how Apple shakes things up by announcing a new pair of AirPods by surprise. However, it's not likely that we'll see them during This year's September event.
With that said, there is still a tiny possibility. After all, there have been rumors that Apple is working on a pair of budget-friendly AirPods. Not only that, but new speculations are popping up about a new pair of AirPods Max. However, it's still far too soon to actually know much about them.
It also seemed like it was the right time to see the AirPods 4 with the switch to USB-C, but Bloomberg's Mark Gurman threw some cold water on that hope when he said that all we should expect is a new USB-C case for the AirPods Pro 2 and that the other USB-C AirPods won't come until next year.
Hopefully, we're wrong, but it's highly unlikely that we'll see all-new AirPods during the Wonderlust event.
Don't Expect to See M3 Macs
With the high demand for Apple Silicon Macs, it's no surprise that the company is already working on a new M3 chip for the new updates.
With that said, it's not likely that Apple will launch or even announce something related to the M3 Macs. The first reason is that, according to rumors, Apple will wait until either the end of 2023 or the beginning of 2024 to launch the new Macs.
Secondly, Apple tends to use its September event to focus primarily on the new iPhone lineup. After all, it's the company's biggest product of the year, and it deserves its own presentation.
If Apple does have any new Macs to announce this year, they'll likely arrive at a separate event in October or November. So, don't expect any Mac-related news tomorrow.
We Shouldn't See Any New iPad Either
Just like the new Macs, Apple is also rumored to be working on some new updates for the iPad. Specifically, Apple is working on a new iPad mini, iPad Air, and a more powerful iPad Pro that's rumored to be powered by the upcoming M3 chip.
Unfortunately, as cool as these new iPads sound, we shouldn't see any updates during the Wonderlust event. According to many rumors, Apple is planning to launch these updates near the end of this year or the beginning of the next.
There (Probably) Won't Be Any News About the Apple Vision Pro
Apple took the world by storm when it announced its newest product: the Apple Vision Pro. Not only was it surprising because of how cool it looked, but many people were also surprised to know that its price was $3,499.
During this year's WWDC, the Cupertino company announced that this product will be launched in 2024. And since Apple isn't one to keep us updated on its product's status, it's possible that there won't be any more news about the Apple Vision Pro during the event.
Of course, that might change if the new iPhone 15 lineup also offers some virtual or augmented reality features that will work alongside the Vision Pro. We'll have to wait and see, though.
No New iPhone SE This Year
The iPhone SE, Apple's most affordable iPhone, is a must-have for people who love smaller phones or just don't want to pay a premium price for a smartphone.
And while it's a great iPhone, it's definitely not Apple's best-selling product, which is why the company updates it sporadically.
Because of this, you shouldn't expect to see a new iPhone SE this year. After all, it took Apple four years to update the original iPhone SE, and while the company only took two years to release the third-generation iPhone SE, that was a really minor update. but it goes to show Apple isn't in a hurry to update this device.
So, when should you expect the iPhone SE 4? Well, some early rumors used to say that Apple might release it in 2024, but now some expect Apple to release this iPhone until 2025.
The good news is that it might be worth the wait. The new iPhone SE is said to come with Face ID, the new Action button that the new iPhone 15 models are rumored to have, and even a USB-C port, which would be a game-changer.
No New Apple Watch SE Either
Alongside the iPhone SE, Apple also introduced a more affordable Apple Watch cleverly called Apple Watch SE.
Apple announced the budget-friendly Apple Watch in 2020, and it updated it with the Apple Watch SE 2 in 2022. As with the iPhone SE, Apple isn't trying to update this wearable every year, unlike the regular Apple Watch.
Based on some rumors, it seems the company will launch the Apple Watch SE 3 in 2024. Instead, in 2023, Apple is expected to launch the Apple Watch Series 9 and the second-generation Apple Watch Ultra.
Get Ready for the Wonderlust Event
Still, there are some of these things we hope to be wrong about. With a bit of luck, we might see a new Apple Watch SE and maybe even some new AirPods in 2023.
With that said, it's a bit unlikely. The good news is that the Wonderlust event will still be packed with a lot of new products that we can't wait to try ourselves.
Apple's Wonderlust event will take place tomorrow, September 12 at 10 a.m. PT (1:00 p.m. ET). Be sure to check back with us tomorrow afternoon for all the news on Apple's new product lineups.
