Problems with watchOS 10? 9 Things You Should Know

Apple's exciting watchOS 10 update is finally available for your Apple Watch, and even if you didn't opt-in for the public beta, you're probably already playing around with the full version.
We can't blame you; watchOS 10 brings a lot of improvements to the Apple Watch. However, unfortunately, it's not all good news, unfortunately. Many users have reported problems that came as soon as they updated — we've even experienced some of these issues ourselves.
Whether you're already using watchOS 10 or you plan on updating your Apple Watch, read on for nine things to look out for in the new software update.
Your Apple Watch Might Experience Battery Issues
One of the first things Apple Watch users noticed after they updated was that their battery life wasn't quite right.
Many of us felt as if the battery life didn't last as long as it used to. Granted, there might be a few reasons for this. First, if you're using an older Apple Watch, then the extra features in watchOS 10 can put more of a strain on your already-aging battery.
Second, Apple tends to prioritize performance over battery life, and the new features and changes might be more demanding than before.
Last but not least, it might actually be a bug. As of right now, Apple hasn't said anything about this issue in particular, so we'll need to wait for a software update to hopefully get it fixed.
However, it's also important to remember that it's not unusual for your battery to take a bit of a hit during the first few days after you install a major software update. There are a number of processes that run in the background to optimize your Apple Watch and resync things with your iPhone, and we've often found that things settle down on their own after a few days.
The Weather Complication Is Having...Complications
If you love checking the weather on your Apple Watch by looking at the complications, you might want to wait before updating to watchOS 10. Many users have reported that the Weather complication isn't working properly anymore.
For instance, instead of looking at the weather from the watch face, the data appears blank. You can, however, still look at the data by opening the Weather app on your Watch, but it defeats the purpose of having a complication.
It was first believed that updating your Apple Watch to watchOS 10.0.2 fixed this issue, but a lot of users are still experiencing it; watchOS 10.1 is in public beta now and has reportedly fixed this problem on the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 in the very first beta release, but it's unclear whether it's done anything for older models yet.
You Might Have Issues With Your Notifications
Another issue we've dealt with first-hand is with notifications. Sometimes, your Apple Watch might randomly stop notifying you of incoming messages or updates from your apps.
Since a lot of us use the Apple Watch to receive notifications without looking at the iPhone, this has become a big issue.
If you've updated to watchOS 10, be sure to keep your iPhone nearby—at least for now. You might accidentally miss an important message for no apparent reason.
You Might Experience Lag When Using Your Apple Watch
If you love Apple products for how snappy they feel, this issue will make you want to avoid watchOS 10 entirely.
Some users have reported that their Apple Watches are now sluggish. This covers anything from not being able to scroll through your apps instantly to feeling lag when opening a specific third or first-party app.
Again, this issue might be caused because of the Apple Watch you have. Unfortunately, older Apple Watches won't handle newer software updates as well as they should. So be careful when updating your older Watch. Like poor battery life, it could also be a temporary problem that resolves itself after a few days, once watchOS 10 has finished cleaning things up in the background.
Siri Is Having Issues Too
Alongside the other Apple Watch issues, we've found that Siri is having a bit of a hard time with the current watchOS 10 update.
If you're as unlucky as us, you might find that Siri isn't as quick as before. It might take a second or two before it even understands your command. Moreover, it's possible that Siri doesn't understand you as well as it did in watchOS 9.
We've experienced issues when trying to call people or making simple requests like basic mathematical operations.
Notifications May Appear Blurry at Random
Another issue we've experienced directly is related to your notifications. Granted, this doesn't happen often, but we've seen that the notifications that pop up on your Apple Watch might be blurry and unreadable.
Likewise, you might not be able to interact with them even if you know you're tapping the right button.
Again, this doesn't happen that often, but if it does happen to you, we've managed to fix it by triggering Siri a few times.
Issues With the UI
Granted, this issue is completely subjective, but a lot of users are complaining about it.
As it turns out, Apple decided to change the location of a lot of features in watchOS 10. For instance, pressing the Side button now opens the Control Center, whereas before, it gave you access to your Dock.
People are also complaining that you can't switch watch faces by swiping to the left or right anymore and that the Grid view on the Home Screen is also different.
As we said, take this one with a grain of salt. If you don't mind these types of changes, you won't be bothered at all. It just takes some time to get used to.
Pairing and Bluetooth Issues
Many users have reported issues when pairing their Apple Watches with other Bluetooth devices.
These reports also suggest the Apple Watch Bluetooth as a whole is having some issues at the moment. It seems this hasn't affected everyone, but be careful when updating to watchOS 10.
What Can You Do to Fix These Issues
If you're experiencing one or more issues with watchOS 10, the best solution is to wait for another update from Apple. Whenever there are big issues with the Apple Watch or any other device, Apple tends to work on software updates pretty quickly.
You can quickly check if there are any software updates available by opening the Watch app on your iPhone and going to General > Software Update.
Besides waiting, you can also try restarting or resetting your Apple Watch. Usually, that will fix most issues, but keep in mind that if this is a watchOS 10 problem, restarting your Apple Watch may only be a temporary fix at best.
Keep Your Apple Watch Up to Date
Once Apple fixes these watchOS 10 issues, you should always try to keep your Watch up to date with the latest software updates. Not only will you get access to a lot of different cool new features, but you'll also install the latest security updates and patches to keep your watch as secure as possible.
