The Apple iPhone was released in June 2007. This first generation of iPhones was available in a sleek silver and black design. It has been discontinued since July 2008, and hasn’t received software updates since the launch of the iPhone OS 3.1.3.  The iPhone screen size (3.5 inches in diameter) and resolution (480 x 320 pixel resolution at 163 ppi) was the best of it’s kind.

The features in an Apple iPhone are the first smartphone capabilities marketed by the company. The original Apple iPhone weighs slightly less than Apple’s next phone release, the iPhone 3G, but is still versatile enough to easily carry in pockets or purses. A novel touchscreen allows consumers to access up to six hours of internet, eight hours of talk time, seven hours of video playback and 24 hours of audio. Technical specifications include:

  • Model number: A1203
  • Height: 4.5 inches
  • Width: 2.4 inches
  • Weight: 4.8 ounces
  • 3.5 inch widescreen multi-touch display
  • 480 x 320 pixel resolution at 163 ppi
  • Displays multiple languages and characters simultaneously

The Apple iPhone can be connected to both a Mac or PC computer. Users can easily download their music collection from iTunes 7.5 or later, and plug-in headphones to conveniently listen to audio, even in public. Rather than carrying a separate camera on vacations or outings, users can snap high-quality photos with the built-in camera they can later edit and print from their computer. It is built to function maximally in temperatures between 32 and 95 degrees Fahrenheit, and can withstand all types of weather, including high humidity. A signal can be obtained from altitudes as high as 10,000 feet. More novel features include:

  • Rechargeable lithium ion battery
  • 5 mm headphone jack
  • 8GB or 16GB flash drive
  • IOS operating system
  • LCD technology with light sensor
  • 850, 900, 1800, 1900 quad-band MHz GSM
  • Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and EDGE wireless data included
  • 0 megapixels camera
  • 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz frequency audio
  • Supports H.264 video, up to 1.5 Mbps, 640 x 480 pixels, 30 frames per second
